Five Days In The Third Training

Guest post by Justice Nutifafa Akligo, participant in the current training session.

I am Justice Nutifafa Akligo but loved to be called Fafa. Growing up, I spent most of my vacation helping my mum, aunties or grandma sell. This brought about an urge in me to grow and run my own business. Today, I refer to myself as young enthusiastic entrepreneur ready to break through in my industry. After lot of coaching by so many motivational speakers through seminars, I resolved to take my destiny in my own hands. During my undergraduate program, I heard of a forum to introduce students to the mobile industry. I convinced my friends and colleagues to attend with me. As we always do, we just make fun of events but this time, we did not. We entered the auditorium late and there was a presentation by Mobile Web Ghana. They spoke a lot from increases in mobile phone usage to utilizing the mobile phone for business opportunities. Then what I did not want to hear was said. “You apply, go through interview, pay something little and we will train you”. I was already set to ask my question. “How long is the training?” Three weeks? What can I learn? Now, I have gotten the answer, more than enough. Thinking I know much about SMS programming, I realized I was learning too hard to do little. The class was on fire and my mind was open to thinking about problems and developing best solutions to them. About making money, “hahahaha”, I can now make more money from my bedroom with simple tools. The IVR lesson was superb. I missed the first day of lecture but it was as if my presence on the second was building on something I learnt for months. The concept was well explained and I even developed my first IVR application the same night before going to bed without any assistance. I paid only something little but I think I am getting more than expected in just five (5) days. I cannot wait for the rest of the days. Meeting with other young entrepreneurs in the industry has boosted my confidence that I can also survive in this competitive industry. Watch out for my group’s final project, which will take Ghana by storm. Do not envy me. Just prepare to join Mobile Web for the next session hopefully in September 2012. My dreams are now becoming a reality.
